Faith Regional is now Faith Health, and while our name has changed, our legacy of compassion and advanced care continues. Our team of more than 1,400 healthcare specialists, surgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and staff work together, expanding access to superior care through over 25 specialties so that we can help more people in more of our communities.

Although our home is Norfolk, Nebraska, the Faith Health footprint spans far and wide. Our campus is home to our non-profit, 131-bed acute care facility (accredited by the Joint Commission), specialty clinics, an urgent care facility, emergency department, and more. Faith Health clinics can be found within Norfolk and surrounding communities — and to make accessing specialized care even easier for more people, many of our healthcare experts travel to area healthcare facilities in over 15 communities

A Community Institution, Not Just a Building.

At Faith Health, our role includes being ready every hour of every day, treating patients regardless of their ability to pay, and bringing advanced medical services to a largely rural region where distance can be a barrier to survival and recovery. 

That work is sustained by a workforce of employees, including physicians, advanced practice providers and staff members who live in the same communities as the patients they treat. They are neighbors, volunteers, parents, coaches and consumers in the local economy. In that sense, Faith Health’s impact extends well beyond medicine. It supports local jobs, stabilizes families, and helps make the region a place where people can live and work with greater confidence that care will be there when they need it.

Emergency Care When Every Second Counts

As a Level III Trauma Center, Faith Health serves as a critical access point for serious injuries and acute illness across the region. That readiness is hard-won, especially when rural hospitals face extraordinary pressures. It depends on recruiting and retaining specialists, maintaining teams and equipment around the clock, and supporting high-cost services that are essential to a community but are not always financially strong on paper. 

Still, for patients and families, the value is immediate and clear. It means advanced care is available close to home. It means faster stabilization. And in many cases, it means lives saved before long-distance transfer ever becomes necessary.

This care often begins before a patient ever sees a doctor. Faith Health partners with over 20 rescue squads, providing trauma education, audits, and hands-on training to strengthen emergency response across northeast Nebraska.

Growing Need for Behavioral Health in Our Community

Mental health care remains one of the most urgent and underserved needs in Nebraska, especially in rural communities. Faith Health operates one of only seven adult inpatient behavioral health units in the state. Opened in 2018 following a $3.1 million investment, the 18-bed unit includes a 10-bed intensive care area and an eight-bed progressive care area for adults in acute mental health crisis. In 2025, the unit cared for 596 patients across a service area spanning 22 counties.

Inpatient behavioral health is a costly service line, and in many settings, it is not profitable. But leaders at Faith Health have been direct about why the service exists: because the need is real and the community cannot afford to be without it. That may be one of the clearest examples of the tension facing hospitals today. Some of the services a community needs most are among the hardest to sustain.

Why It Matters

Faith Health isn’t just about what happens inside clinical suites—it’s about jobs for 1,400 local residents, ripple effects to businesses and schools, and the peace of mind that care for every stage of life—chronic and infectious disease, behavioral health, maternal and newborn care, support for seniors—remains accessible, coordinated, and close.

It means jobs, local spending, civic involvement and confidence that this region has the infrastructure needed to grow and thrive. Hospitals are sometimes discussed as businesses, and they must be managed responsibly. But for the communities they serve, they are more than that. They are part of the foundation that holds daily life together.
