When the nurse came in at discharge, she asked if I had seen the doctor. When she realized that I had not received any follow-up from the NP regarding my son's test results, diagnosis, or plan of care, she quickly pulled herself together, remained professional, and did the follow-up herself. I want to recognize that the staff worked well together to make sure we were cared for, and the nurse did her best to put on a professional appearance in a difficult situation. However, the fact remains that I never received direct communication from the NP about my son's results or care, and that should not have been overlooked.
